A Grand Rapids, MI-based food processing company was interested in building a new facility. The company received an abatement from the state to support the significant building expense. In this agreement, they agreed to not appeal their property taxes.
When construction neared completion, we toured the facility, assembled a market analysis and met with the accessor to determine the value of the building. In Michigan, property is assigned an assessed value, which is 50 percent of market value.
As a result, we saved the client $150,000 per year in property taxes and $1.8 million in property tax savings over the life of the abatement. This demonstrates our top-notch ability to provide property tax management.

Big Power, Small Tax
A major power plant in southeastern Michigan incurred extensive expense in building this power plant in short order. Fixed assets were overstated due to expedited shipping, overtime charges, vendor changes and a number of other non-taxable expense. We evaluated each invoice classifying the assets accurately and rebuilding the fixed asset system.
The result was revised personal property tax statements which saved the taxpayer over $1.5M in property tax expense.
